Non-O — retirement
People who have retired and want to spend most of the year in Thailand rather than a winter.
Applied for from outside Thailand on retirement grounds, with financial evidence and a police clearance. The thresholds change; treat any figure you read anywhere, including ours, as unverified.
We quote no financial threshold here because the current one has not been read off the official portal. Confirm it there before you plan around it.
LTR — Long-Term Resident
People in the categories the Thai government lists for long-term residency, such as high-income earners, remote professionals and specialists.
Assessed on category-specific evidence. The categories and the tests behind them are set by the government and are reviewed; the official portal is the source for both.
LTR criteria are category-specific and we have not verified the current figures against the announcement, so none are printed here.

Tax treatment, stated plainly
Tax treatment depends on your tax residence, the source of the income, and how and when funds are remitted into Thailand. Nothing on this page is tax advice — take independent advice before you move. Official guidance: rd.go.th.
Talk it through before you apply.
We will explain how the routes differ and point you at the official requirements. We cannot assess your eligibility, complete an application for you, or tell you what you will be granted.
